SAMAA Proficiency Rating Criteria for NASA Pilots

In Line with the SAMAA MOP "Proficiency Tests and Merit Awards for Fixed Wing Powered Models  Issue 2- June 2011,  Paragraph 8.8, Proficiency Qualification through a SIG."  NASA has had the following criteria ratified by the SAMAA Proficiency Sub-committee to enable scale pilots to obtain fixed wing proficiency awards through their performance at National and International Scale Contests (Nationals, Masters and Scale World Championships)

SAMAA Proficiency Ratings will be awarded to NASA pilots according to achievements during participation at NASA recognised national competitions.

 



  • A SAMAA Bronze Proficiency Rating will be awarded to any Sport Scale or higher category pilot who has achieved a minimum average flying score of 50% (bonuses excluded) in any recognised national NASA competition.
  • A SAMAA Silver Proficiency Rating will be awarded to any Sport Scale or higher category pilot who has achieved a minimum average flying score of 55% (bonuses excluded) in any recognised national NASA competition.
  • A SAMAA Gold Proficiency Rating will be awarded to any Sport Scale or higher category pilot who has achieved a minimum average flying score of 60% (bonuses excluded) in any recognised national NASA competition.
  • Develop and maintain policies on Safety and Rules for all facets of Scale Model Flying.
  • Prepare an annual Calender of Scale events and oversee a National Scale Competition once a year.
  • Liase and co-operate with other bodies having materially the same objectives.
